Volunteering
Volunteering is the heart of the Olympia Marathon. It is the force that gives life to the event and transforms the race into an authentic experience of hospitality, participation and contribution. As a volunteer, you become part of a great celebration that connects sport with the history and culture of Ancient Olympia, supporting the runners every step of the way to the finish line.

General Conditions of Participation
- Volunteers are those who have submitted the online application and received a placement response.
- By submitting the application, volunteers fully accept all terms and conditions of the program.
- The personal information provided when submitting the application must be true.
- Participation in the Volunteer Program does not in any way constitute the provision of employment, nor can it give rise to a claim for remuneration. It is solely a voluntary offer of work, within the framework of the objectives of the organisation.
Age Criteria
- The programme is open to adults and minors from 1st grade or 13 years old and above.
- Minors participate through a school/group or accompanied by an adult volunteer.
- In these cases, the application is submitted by a group leader or parent/guardian.
Placement of Volunteers
- The placement is based on the needs of the organization and in consultation with the Racing Sector.
- Volunteer preference statements will be taken into account where possible.
- The Organising Committee may designate morning and afternoon volunteer shifts where it deems necessary.
- Volunteers shall report to their assigned position and shall not change position without approval of the Volunteer Office or Team Leader.
Obligations During Employment
- Follow the instructions of the team leader/station manager exactly.
- Your presence at the designated time and meeting point is essential for the safety of the athletes.
- You immediately report any absences.
- In case of absence on race day without prior notification, the volunteer will be disqualified from future events.
- Handle event materials according to the instructions of the event officials.
- Represent the sport and our community by offering support and encouragement to each participant.
- All volunteers must respect and abide by the rules of the race before, throughout and after the race.
- Each post (catering stations, secretariat, route guard) has its own important role in the success of the race.
- We work together with a smile and courtesy with the other volunteers and field managers.
- The race organizers are not responsible in case of injury, damage or any other kind of harm that a volunteer or participant in the race may suffer before and after performing their duties. The organization covers volunteers with accident liability insurance in case of accident during their duties and within the venue of this event - volunteers accept that their personal data is provided to the Insurance Company with which the organization cooperates in the context of the race in order to insure them in case of accident during the race.
Personal Data
- By submitting an application, personal data is used for the purposes of the event.
- Any other processing of the volunteer's personal data is only done with the consent of the data owner for the specific purpose stated.
- Volunteers accept that their data is sent to the event's insurance company for accident coverage.
Certificate of Participation
- It is awarded to those who successfully complete their volunteer work.
- A certificate of participation is sent by email to all those who have successfully completed their employment a few days after the event.
