6th Olympia Marathon
The association “Olympia Marathon” organizes on March 27, 2022 the 6th Olympia Marathon, in co-organization with the Region of Western Greece and AS Korivos Amaliada. The event is under the auspices and support of the Municipalities of Ilida, Pyrgos and Ancient Olympia.
The purpose of the event is to give the opportunity to the runners of our country and abroad, to compete in a marathon distance in the place where the Olympic Ideals were born, connecting two of the highest values of Greek Culture, those of the Olympic Spirit and the Marathon.
In parallel with the races, many cultural events will take place in which the local community of the prefecture of Ilia will have an active role, aiming at promoting and highlighting the region at all levels.

Description of the route
The route starts from Ag. Athanasiou in Amaliada and specifically on Ermou Street to be directed through Ant. Petralia, (with a small detour on Kolokotroni, Vyronos, Georgiou Papandreou streets) and 45th West Road and 8thSouth Road at the Patras-Pyrgos National Road. Then, it continues passing from Pyrgos to Ancient Olympia through the Pyrgos-Ancient Olympia National Road in order to reach the ancient Stadium of Ancient Olympia.
Eligible to participate are men and women who have reached the age of 18, who fully and unreservedly accept the terms of participation in the event and will run at their own risk, while they must have recently undergone medical examinations, so that their ability has been confirmed to take part in long-distance races.
In addition, they must hold a valid full vaccination certificate or a valid recovery certificate.
Registration period – Receipt of participation package
The deadline for registrations is Wednesday, March 23, for both individual and group registrations. By that time, the payment of the participation fee must have been made.
Those runners who complete their registration by Wednesday 16 March will have the right to have their name written on the entry number.
The receipt of the participation package will take place at the building of the Region in Pyrgos on Friday 25 and Saturday 26 March.
The receipt of the participation package will be done strictly with the demonstration of the following:
- Email with the participation number
- Identity card or passport
- Valid certificate of full vaccination or recovery
Prizes – Awards
Prizes will be awarded with special prizes to the first 3 winners of the general classification. All runners will have the opportunity to be informed of their position in the general classification regarding their gender and age category.
All those who finish will receive the commemorative medal of the race while they will have the opportunity to electronically print the commemorative diploma of participation.

All participants of the marathon, regardless of the package they choose will receive the following:
- BIB number with timing chip and latches
- Backpack for placing any personal belongings
- Commemorative medal
- Water supply and fruit at the finish
- Power supply along the route
- Ability to print a commemorative diploma with its name and performance
- Health coverage
- Transfer to the starting point from Pyrgos and Ancient Olympia to Ilida (Amaliada).
Note: The organizer s must have been informed at the time of registration.
- Complete package
The complete package also includes the commemorative technical t-shirt of the race.
